Geographic area project

Pick a geographic region, nation state, or megacity and research its natural landforms, climate, environmental resources, population dynamics, and cultural geography. Make sure to use sources written by professional geographers and related academics like sociologists and anthropologists. Peer-reviewed journal articles and books from academic presses make the best sources. The first thing Dr. Walton does to grade a paper is review the Bibliography/Works Cited page to assess the quality of sources used. Visit our library site here to follow tutorials on academic research. Our helpful librarians are also available to assist you with research papers like this (it is literally their job to do this) in person at the libraries or online.

Examples of topics include (but are not limited to): Andes Mountain Range (geographic region), Mekong River System (geographic region), Hong Kong (megacity), Mexico City (megacity), London (megacity), India (nation state), Chile (nation state)

how does black culture influence society

This course serves a primer of the Black Experience globally, but primarily focused on the United States. However, Black American cultures, including diasporic Black cultures have had a profound influence on global events and cultures. This includes languages, cuisines, music, religion, etc. Using examples from the course and from your own knowledge, illustrate in a 3 to 5-page essay, the ways that Diasporic Black cultures have influenced non-black cultures either regionally or globally. You can focus on a specific area, nation, or geographic region. You will be evaluated on your understanding of concepts covered in class and in the readings. You are expected to engage with the readings while developing a cogent argument to support your stated position.

The reason for, legitimacy and lasting effects of intelligence operations in Northern Ireland during The Troubles.

This research should include three distinct sections:

Section 1: Who were the agencies conducting intelligence operations in Northern Ireland during The Troubles (between 1968 and 1998) and why did they conduct them?
Section 2: How legal were they? What UN laws or protocols did they contradict or abide by? Who authorised them? Were they legitimate? What did other countries say about them? Who condemned and who commended?
Section 3: What has this meant for the future of Northern Ireland and intelligence operations around the world? What has become of their legacy?

The readings given should aid in direction but only for the introduction and first section. Further material will be required to compile section 2 and 3.

Gender Performativity

Performativity: Explain the two different ways we perform, according to Judith Butler. Then identify which of these two forms of performativity Judith Butler thinks we do with gender. Unpack why this differentiation is important and the potential  problems that could come in understanding gender as the other kind of performance. Finally, think of an example that proves Butler's argument and explain how it does so.

you will imagine you are employed as a human services professional in your desired area of interest. You have been asked to prepare a brief policy paper analyzing a particular piece of human services legislation and to make policy recommendations for better meeting the needs of your client base. Using a specific piece of state or federal legislation that you have identified and researched in this course, you will assess the strengths and/or weaknesses of the legislation in addressing the needs of clients, bearing in mind the cultural, social, political, historical, and economic context in which the legislation was proposed. You should also consider how other similar legislation currently before state or federal legislative bodies might impact the legislation, and any legal or ethical concerns. Based on your analysis, your paper should explain your organizations position on the legislation being considered, propose areas for improvement, and recommend strategies for building coalitions
