Please view a video of a complete concert by one single artist or band (note: a blues/bluegrass festival is also a possibility) from a non-western music tradition. Acceptable genres and styles of music include any of the music presented in our textbook and lectures.
(Please do not review a symphony concert or a non-western symphony performing symphonic or western art music in a concert. This will not work for a study in non-western art musics such as this course.)
If you are unsure about a musical choice, please email me with details about the artist/concert in question.
Reviews must be 2-3 pages, double spaced. Please include the YouTube link.
It may be easier to find a concert of blues, bluegrass, African-American gospel and folk music which would work perfectly for the concert review.

Proposal Guidelines:
1) You must include a thesis statement (what your contextual analysis of the show you have chosen will tell us about the show), and a little bit about how you plan to make that argument (what your evidence is). Provide a bibliography of at least three sources, but include as many as you want.
2) You are not required to have academic sources, though you might want to have them for reference if you are talking about specific historical events or how other writers and scholars have viewed and reported those events. HOWEVER, if you are talking about things included in pieces of legislation, FCC documents, or something else, you do not need to refer to the textbook or a secondary source, you can (and should) cite that document itself as a primary source.
