the Global Citizenship and Career Management
the Global Citizenship and Career Management
In order to demonstrate achievement of Module Learning Outcomes 1 and 2, you need to provide evidence of engagement with the whole of the L&E module: the course/ discipline based activities and assessment in term 1; the Global Citizenship and Career Management lectures/seminars in term 2; the self-selecting events throughout the year (see also Appendices 2 and 6). Use your lecture notes and associated reading and exercises from term 1 and especially term 2 as the basis of your analysis and reflection. We are not looking for mere description or repetition of theory here, we need you to demonstrate understanding and application and an analysis of how it all feeds into your future career.
It is important that you use appropriate theoretical concepts to aid in the critical evaluation of your development and to provide academic underpinning to your report. Theory might relate to any aspect of the module (for example: Leadership, Followership, Sustainability, Ethics, Personal Branding, Emotional Intelligence, Transferable skills development, Learning Styles or Career Management). Again as stated above, do not just repeat theory covered, try to reflect on how it relates to your future career, how it helped you build up your transferable skills etc.
and as it is a major part of this module, emphasis should be placed upon the attributes relating to Global Citizenship. Using for example Appendix 2, collect together evidence and start to analyse your achievements, along with your knowledge and understanding of the related academic theory and concepts. Build on any other reviews/ audits from the PDP area , plus any other relevant tools, to help you consider the learning you have gained from your experiences. Do this throughout the year.
You need to reflect on your own strengths and weaknesses and your skills levels, along with the actions taken by yourself to fill any gaps or mitigate weaknesses. Remember to consider also your level of Emotional Intelligence. Draw on examples from all years of your degree (or previous studies if you are a direct entrant). Use your term 1 L&E activity/ assessment. Use the CareerEDGE model to guide you to consider experiences derived from not only the degree itself, but also work experience, volunteering etc. See also the diagram on the previous page, which shows some of the many topics and activities which could feed into the reflection and analysis.
Conclusions.
You should draw conclusions in relation to the development of your Personal Learning Outcomes, your Personal Targets, the Module Learning Outcomes, and the Graduate Attributes. Also your level of understanding of the necessary theories and concepts.
Recommendations.
Your report should end with a workable Action Plan. Remember for all objectives you should adopt SMART principles – i.e. be specific, measurable, achievable, related (to overall goals) and timed. An example of an Action Plan in the form of a Personal Development Plan is shown in Appendix 7.
