The development of the Colombian recession 1999- Essay

This is an odd assignment for my Economics class, but I have to pick a country and a time period and talk about the economy at that time. I chose to write about Colombia’s recession in 1999. I would like you to have an analysis on what lead to Colombia’s economy using proper economic indicators using graphs and tables (5 pages of text) and other pages using graphs and tables to support argument.

2. The paper has a limit of 10 pages for the main text (we will stop reading after page 10). Of course, you do not have to reach this limit. I’m not looking for length; I’m looking for high quality analysis. You should add a page for references, and you can append as many pages of graphs, tables, etc, that you’d like on top of the text+references pages.

3. Please use a reasonable font size (minimum size is 12 points), and you need to have at least 1.5 lines spacing.

4. In terms of what you should be writing about, your task is to (i) select a country or region, (ii) select an interesting time period for (i), and (iii) use the tools you’ve learnt in class to creatively discuss the economic developments experienced by your chosen country/region across the selected time period.
