Discuss various issues relevant to our environmental theme - argument essay
Requirement for argument essay:
Now that we have read and discussed various issues relevant to our environmental theme, you should be ready to write a paper in which your goal is to present a researched and mediated position. In this paper, your task is to write an argumentative paper in which you will research various perspective on an issue of your choice (it should be “environmental” in some way, related to something we have read or discussed in class), and then draw conclusions based on your research. This assignment is not simply a report; you must make a claim and support it, taking into consideration various points of view.
While the position you take on whatever issue you choose to write about will be your opinion, you must sufficiently argue that point of view. It is not of issue to me whether I think you are right or not, instead I will assess how skillfully you argue using a variety of sources.
Cultural Immersion Activity you will design and carry out a cultural immersion activity for yourself, then write about it.
The experience should expose you to a culture you may encounter in your current or future classroom and should help you develop a deeper understanding of this culture?s world view, so that you are better able to contrast diverse perspectives with your own cultural filters. Your goal should be to develop a deeper socio-cultural understanding of students who may stem from this background.
I spent an afternoon with someone of another culture/religion/ethnicity to learn more about that world view.
After completing one of the recommended activities above, or a similarly enriching cultural immersion activity, summarize briefly what you did and what you learned from it. There is no length requirement for your write-up, but you must fully describe your activity and explain how it truly is a cultural immersion experience. Then, analyze how this experience has changed or enh

Back in the Stone Ages, when I was just a kid, about the only place to get information was out of a book at the library. I was recently visiting my relatives, and one of my nieces, who is seven years old, wanted me to look at a paper she was writing about the moon for her class at school. She led me off to her room, and fired up her computer. First she showed me the paper in her word processing program. I asked a question about some information she had included. She rolled her eyes, flipped over to Google, and found the source of her facts in less than 30 seconds.
These days, information is everywhere, and you need to harness its power. Using the web well opens doors to success in every field.
