BIBLE DICTIONARY PROJECT

In preparation for the Bible Dictionary Projects and by completing your textbook readings you will be equipped to identify the message, characters, and main ideas in the Old and New Testaments (Syllabus MLOs: B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I). For these 2 distinct projects, imagine you are writing a series of short articles for a Bible dictionary. As we have seen in our study,Bible dictionaries are useful tools to learn more about the books, people, and places we encounter in Scripture.   Your task will be to write:
  1. Three concise 200–250-word essays abouta book, person, and setting/place from the Old Testament (Due at the end of Module/Week 5).
  2. Three concise 200–250-word essays abouta book, person, and setting/place from the New Testament (Due at the end of Module/Week 8).
  Content Guidelines:Choose 1 book, person, and place from the list of the provided topics for each of the 2 projects.   Your essay must include the following per item:

Reflection Paper

Write a 500–750-word personal Reflection Paper on childhood brain integration based on the Siegel & Bryson textbook The Whole-Brain Child. Discuss how your new understanding of brain development might influence or change the way you would counsel a child. Give some personal thoughts about how this book brought insight into understanding how a child behaves, thinks, and processes information and how to integrate these concepts into counseling (or raising) children. This is a personal reflection paper; therefore, first-person writing (the use of “I”) is acceptable. However, you must include at least 3–4 citations within the paper to support the ideas that you have learned from the Siegel & Bryson textbook. Include the following in the Reflection Paper: 1. Include a title page, but it is NOT necessary to include an abstract. 2. Write a personal reflection paper as outlined above with 3–4 citations included. 3. Learning Activity #5: Letter To a Young Pastor Paper Create a letter based on Paul’s Pastoral Epistles that you would write to a young pastor in his or her first church ministry. Write a one page “epistle” that offers your words of encouragement and instructions to the young pastor using some of Paul’s advice to Timothy and Titus. Include at least three verses from these books that would give insight into ministry for this pastor.  Provide at least one source. Citations to the dictionary and Bible should be provided in addition to the required source. The Bible should not be listed in the References page, but does have to be cited in-text.  Use the Paper Writing rubric provided in the syllabus to ensure you have met all the criteria. Submit the letter to your facilitator as an attachment to the drop box titled Letter to a Young Pastor Paper.
