George W. Bush re election
1.In 2004, George W. Bush was running for re-election. Whenever a politician runs for re-election, the question arises, did they keep their promises? “Can You Libel Someone on Twitter?”
1. Here’s a hypothetical situation: An angry student has posted several statements about me on a Com201 Facebook page. Which of her statements, which are below, might be the basis of a successful libel judgment in my favor – a judgment that would require her to pay me damages? Here’s what she posted:
“Don’t ever take Com201 from Beam. (a) First, he plays favorites in grading by giving higher grades to students from Washington. (b) A friend also told me that he regularly propositions students when they come to see him during office hours. (c) He gave way too many assignments in the cou

Paper instructions:
Our main textbook, Diversity Consciousness, offers case studies at the end of each chapter from the perspectives of 3 fictional students -- Ligua, Mary, and Michael. They represent a variety of life situations and may resonate -- seem familiar -- to you. I believe discussing these studies will give us a chance to seriously consider the readings and seeing how well they can apply in the lives of fictional characters -- and perhaps ourselves.
Be sure to read the introductions to Ligua, Mary and Michael in chapter 1. Then you will need to read the scenarios and questions for each character in chapter 2 (pp. 71-73). Choose one scenario and answer all three questions about it and present your answers as a main topic in this conference. Be sure to create your response title identifying the scenario and your name -- e.g., "Ligua's scenario -- [your name]'s answers
