Art Biographies

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES:

PABLO PICASSO:
B: 1881, Malaga, Spain
Still to this day, Pablo Picasso remains one of the worlds most celebrated artists. Leading the Cubism movement (Co-creator), Picasso was considered radical in his work, portraying bodies in unconventional ways that were different to anything the art world had seen before. Drawing on personal events and experiences, he would incorporate the two into his art giving them a whole other dimension/s.
There is no single technique Picasso used in his artworks; constantly experimenting with new mediums and trying to better himself. PP, Mini-bio vid.
The way Picasso portrays his works is almost magical; distorting faces, simplifying lines and twisting shapes; creating an immersive, enigmatic space within itself.

Edouard Manet, otherwise known as Manet was a French Impressionist painter of the 19th Century. Coming from an affluent and well-connected family, his parents hoped their son would choose the career path of becoming a lawyer. Rebelling against his parent’s wishes, he followed his calling and became one of the most influential and well-known artists of him time.
Manet’s works depict every day scenes of people and life, particularly modern life. His avant-gardism lies in his willingness to (2012, Art story foundation) modernise older genres of painting by modifying the conventional elements of traditional works of art. This was undoubtedly the root cause of many of the scandals and controversy he provoked.

Hirst’s works are centralised around controversial issues of life and death, Young British Artists exploring the process of life and death, the ironies, falsehoods and desires that we mobilise to negotiate our own alienation and mortality with?
– Portraying a mockery of the harsh reality of life and death?

Alessandro Filipepi, also known as Sandro Botticelli began his career during the Italian Renaissance period. Botticelli’s style of painting was very distinct, his portraits seemed to display a beautiful and yet, melancholy characteristic to them? (Historylink101). Focusing on themes of ‘Neo-Platonism in his work, Botticelli incorporated Christianity and Pagan ideas into his works. Another theme Botticelli used in his works were the roles males and females played in society. (Historylink101). Sometimes Botticelli would show these traditional roles and other times he portrayed women as the dominant, most important figure (Historylink101).
Many of Botticelli’s works contained a very religious feel to them, having shown highly influenced symbols in his paintings that seemed to be telling a story
