The connection between love and honor Custom Essay

In a seven-page double-spaced essay, consider the topic of romantic love in all six works assigned this semester and relate your ideas to the historical contexts in which these works were written. You are expected to analyze the six works in depth. Consider how one trend of the times influences the texts’ depiction of romantic love. (Please do not confuse the term “romance”–a genre of Medieval literature–with the word “Romantic,” a 19th-century intellectual tradition.) In other words, consider how the depiction of romantic love in Goethe’s novel and Ibsen’s play is related to the Courtly Love tradition present in the romances of Chaucer and Malory, the plays of Shakespeare, and the mock-romance/novel of Cervantes. What qualities of behavior remain the same, and what qualities are new? How do the changes reflect the time in which each text was written? But be sure to focus the paper’s topic so that you explore one main idea in depth rather than glossing over many different ideas. NOTE: Please remember that this is a literary analysis papers, not history reports. Your goal is to analyze the language of the assigned literature to prove one claim about its meaning. So please be sure to use ample direct quotations from the literary texts and analysis of those quotations in order to prove your claims. The essay should have one clear, argumentative, thesis statement to prove and ample evidence to support it. The format for your papers should follow MLA guidelines. Place one-inch margins on all sides; use twelve-point type; double space your lines, and set your font to “Times New Roman.” TOPIC: The connection between love and honor in all six of the texts.
